Hi Guys,

So, at the charity day yesterday Rob Green showed up in his supercharged FJ cruiser.... :D

I spoke to him about a supercharger kit for Toyota 86...
He mentioned the following:
- Kit is under final development
- The kit will be Vortex
- 6 has been ordered, 5 already sold
- 60% increase in power...!!

Please note that these kits are still under development and that final figures and prices will be released by RGM at a later stage.

GREAT NEWS...!! :notworthy:

Now THAT'S going to be epic!

If going by Rob's 60% power increase that's roughly 235kw (on the fly) ...
HAHA ... It would be awesome to watch a SC'd 86 vs a 135i

What are the other Supercharger setups available elsewhere? overseas etc

I think a SC 86 will be best. Better than having a turbo version

Those who have driven powerful NA RWD cars and then turbo RWD will know that I mean

You dont wanna wait for turbo spool when drifting around a bend. It must make power at any rev!

Yip...!

Turbo version of this car would have been an EPIC FAIL...!!

It would be so dam fast in a straight line with a turbo tho ... its so light!

But yes the SC would do more justice to it. . .Check out HKS's

"HKS would like to announce its participation in the top-level drifting competition of "2012 D1 GRAND PRIX SERIES."
Motor sports activities are the origin of HKS "challenging sprit". HKS is challenging with high aspiration and we will share our dream and sensation with our fans.
And this year we have chosen TOYOTA 86 as a base car. Taking part in the top tuning category of "D1" with the latest high-profile FR car, we will feedback the technology obtained through this competition to our new product development. HKS will release remarkable and high performance products for the TOYOTA 86."

No it will not be cheap... All Rob's work is top-notch and build with reliablity in mind as well....

Even if it could have of price-tag of 80K.... You will still have a 200+kw RWD sports car, all with the 86's good looks.... :thumbright:

Same price as an over-rated "hot-hatch" then.... I will take the SC 86 any day.... :D

Where's the "double like" button? I'm glad he's seeing for the japs as well coz his workmanship is as good as if it came from the factory. Did anyone see the 86 in this months S & S mag. That with a charger would be CRAZY!!

matter of opinion. Know a few guys with STs that tried RGM and were not happy. Way over priced also.

RGM workmanship from what i have seen is great

Check the C63 which they supercharged!! Pushing over 500KW!

They fabricated and built everything!

Just fit a 2JZ with the stock twins. that should do the job for a cheaper alternative  although nothing beats a charger whine!

Wouldnt know what to choose :drunken:

Me too :dontknow: its a really tough one

RGM's quality and workmanship is excellent - He displayed at our JHB's Finest event too.
THIS is what he fabricates and then bolts on to a FJ Cruiser for 330kw and 550nm :

Although each person's experiences WILL differ :)

System Features
• Gear-driven V-3 H67BC centrifugal supercharger, designed specifically for the FA20 Boxer engine.
• The V-3 features an internal oil reservoir. No connection between the oil pan and the compressor gear case is required; no oil line. Includes a remote fluid drain hose (attached to supercharger) that allows for simple
fluid changes without removing the supercharger from the vehicle.
• Technologically advanced, high-efficiency, 5-Axis machined billet impeller and high-diffusion housing developed in our SAE-J1723-compliant supercharger test cell.
• Stylized airbox and filter housing design allows for additional flow, while retaining the factory cold air ram intake. Quick release fasteners allow for simple access to filter for change/cleaning.
• Integrated air/air charge cooler configuration features all aluminum tube ducting and an oversized cooler core to provide maximum cooling with minimum pressure loss.
• Discharge duct connections utilize heat resistant silicon sleeves and premium quality stainless steel clamps.
• CNC machined billet mounting bracketry with black anodized finish for attractive and functional "factory-type" appearance and rigidity.
• Complete bolt-on system including all necessary belts, pulleys and reusable high-flow air filter.

R10k for an exhaust system....RGM FTW

And why give flywheel reading gains? Why not give the wheel figures?

But still RGM FTW

He runs a business, you don't see Ford (a business) advertising the wheel power of their models do you? Which will sell more:
- Ford Figo 1.4: Power Output 62kw (flywheel, as per Ford website)
or
- Ford Figo 1.4: Power Output 49kw (wheel, rough estimation of less 20% of above figure)

Why, cos it looks better to advertise higher readings, so people would be more interested. Nothing wrong with that.

But you right, RGM FTW, cos he's the first in SA to launch a kit like this for the 86 :thumbright:

so just because a big company who sells to the average customer does it, it cool for a company who I assume targets petrol heads and enthusiasts to do it, despite those petrol heads and enthusiasts prefering the more "accurate" wheel figures which arent as flattering but more realistic. :laughing3:
