im considering putting cams on my car.........any idea what runs the best and what degree?

i heard a few guys saying dont put cams cos sometimes the car runs backwards.......

has anyone had experience with this?

cheapest.... get the series2 4age's cams... they are 240's opposed to your 232's

havent done any modes AS YET

just wanted to Put some lekker cams and probably try porting the valves and a small head job

Bud this is going to cost you alot...2 reasons why you shouldn't....1> you are at altitude were N/A DIES! 2> whatever mods you do,a 20V with equivalent mods will outmuscle you,anytime anyplace, so do what the 16V begs for....BOOST the bugger!

if u were at the coast, id say 272..works nice with the stock ecu...goes great with everyday driving..smooth, if u want bad *** ripping holes in other cars, go mayb 292 or 304s yoshi's but ul need some management to run these properly

Don't overcam your car.
Go for something mild like 256 degree with 8mm lift & buy vernier pulleys.
It won't make your car aggressive but will boost power throughout the rev range if timed correctly.
You will need a unichip to get the fuelling sorted to match the cam.
BTW this cam works at reef altitude & at the coast.

Hi gents.

I have heard from a few people that for a 1600 you put 268 cams and for 1800 272deg cams. They said its the best for every day driving power...can anyone confirm this or comment please?

Eish guys boost is king but the budget is the problem at the moment

maybe il just use the car as is for now and then later when im a larnie il boost the forker

I had 258 billets in my car, it made +- 155Nm and 108Kw on a reasonable dyno, I pulled 268 billet and 268 regrind cammed TC's and lost to them as well, pulled a few SR20's and NUMEROUS GOLOFS. Currently i'm running 264 intake and 270 zorst regrind cams with lengthened valvels with verniers and SMT6, the car struggles to idle because of the vacuum produced from the overlap of the cams but makes POWER 160+nm @ 4200rpm and 115.4kw @ 7500rpm and still climbs in a STRIGHT line upwards after that past limiter now this setup aint lekka to drive in traffic but is VREK strong when going full throttle, I must still test it against some SR20's, VTEC's and 20v's of course. It all depends on what you want a car just for racing like what I got or a everyday but a little more beef TC.
I like my car and I drive in traffic now and then so I will have to take the 270 CAM out and replace woth the 264 as I think It should get between 110 and 115Kw @ 7500rpm easily and idle and drive in traffic smoothly AND it's STOCK 20V, VTEC and SR20 TERRITORY maybe a little MORE
268 regrinds or billets still make power after the 7800rpm limiter so 264's should use the FULL 7800rpm Limit on the twincam ECU
