 2004 Corolla Brakes
Step 1: Safety, Jack, ensure that hand brakes are down, etc. Step 2: Remove Wheel Step 3: Locate the rubber plug between the studs and remove it. You now have a hole in your drum. Step 4: Turn the disk so that the hole is closes to the ground. Using a torch, look through the hole untill you see the adjustment screw. Turn it in a downwards direction untill you cannot turn it any more. Step 5: Re-assemble

 Re: 2004 Corolla Brakes
step 1. release the handbrake cable from the lever, u gota take out the centre console to do it.
step 2. remove rear wheels and support body using tresel stands aka jack stands
step 3. remove rubber gromet(plug) on the drum, align with slotted nut.
step 4. LHS the adjustment nut must be turned clockwise to expand the linings towards drum. - turn nut till it stops, then turn 4 strokes backwards.
step 5. RHS the adjustment nut must be turned anti-clockwise to expand the linings. - turn till it stops, then 4 strokes backwards.
step 6. refit wheels and tighten to 103nm.
step 7. lift lever till u have heard 3 clicks/notches, tighten cable till slack has been removed.
step 8. lift lever to the desired amount of notches, not below 3 clicks and tighten cable till all slack has been removed, release handbrake, it difficult to release then loosen cable.
step 9. refit centre console and happy driving. thats how u adjust handbrakes, the procedure works for all cars, just the setup might be different.
step 8 is for if u want it at 7 clicks for example

 Re: 2004 Corolla Brakes
if you adjust a 2004 corolla handbrake to three clicks it will bind! that procedure doesnt work with all cars! toyota's with drums on the rear are adjusted to feel a mechanic would keep adjusting it until he feels it has reached sufficient adjustment. toyota's with discs that have linings internally work on a lock and realease method like 04 rollas an x's. toyota's with a disc only have the hand brakes connected directly to the caliper like AE92 RSi's and new spec rolla's n auris. also adjusters are turned in the same direction on both sides of the vehicle. i think this thread was setup as a joke initially.
