What are realtones and voice ringtones?

Realtones are ringtones that are based on general sound files like WAV and MP3 tones. There are various manufacturers that have specialised voice tone formats like AAC, ADP, AMR etc.

The reason why it's called voice ringtones is because you can have actual music with vocals, as you hear it on the radio or on disk.

Generally realtones are fast becoming the most prominent ringtones out there as more and more phones support them.

We're also not really restricted that much in a sense of length on the tone, yet you might find that some phones are still restricted to 30 second tones. The reasoning behind this is purely due to file sizes.

The type of realtones out there today are usually licensed recreations of the original music, so it pretty much sounds like the real thing, but it's licensed differently as it's not the actual songs. With the internet age however you tend to find that the real stuff is also out there.

There are many ringtone websites where you can find voice tones to personalise your phone.
