I make music under the name MantatraX and have been doing so for quite a few years. I've had my music listed on MP3.COM , IUMA (down now), MySpace and loads more other sites that represents online free electronic music.

What is Trance Music?

Trance music can range from 135 - 150 BPM, in my opinion. Distinctive 4/4 beats with hi-hat off-beats, like most dance music. There are also different variations of trance music. I've heard of hard trance, uplifting trance, melodic trance, trance house, psychedelic trance and more.

Trance music started as psychedelic, or GOA, always destinctive by spaced out sounds, acid type blips and bleeps, made so famous by the 303 music generator.

Uplifting trance , to me the same as melodic trance is known to be 'emotional' music, with proper chord progressions, breakdowns and awesome climaxes, made famous by influencial names in the business like DJ Tiesto, John Digweed, Mauro Picotto, Paul Oakenfold, Seb Fontaine and others.

Hard trance, in my opinion is the same as hard house and has more of a club / dancefloor feel to it. Also longer songs, less breakdowns (or faster breakdowns and recoveries), to accommodate DJ's. It's actually...harder, believe it or not!

What is Drum & Bass music?

Drum & Bass music, one of my favorite genres of music is FAAAASSST!! You're looking at 150 BPM up into the 200's. The reason why drum & bass music is so popular to tech programmers and the underground scene is because the music is so tech. It is technically appealing in that a good drum & bass song will have such intricate beats that you are constantly kept on your toes, yet, it is held together in perfect harmony, with well chosen instruments and especially that bass line, which is the most prominent feature of drum & bass music.

What is House music?

House music is sexy, house music is hot, house music is summer loving and house music is the lot! Played from anything between 120 - 140 BPM, this is music with serious groove and sometimes sexy basslines. Over the years we've also seen some variations in house music, like speed garage music (which has basslines comparable to drum bass), hard house (which is basically genreless hard club music). House music is usually the best music to dance to. It doesn't exhaust you that much and can have catchy vocals and melodic hooks.

House music is probably the most commercial electronic music together with trance music.
